Din Tai Fung is a Taiwanese restaurant chain which was founded in Taiwan and now has restaurants in Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Australia, Japan, and the U.S. Din Tai Fung is internationally renowned for its delicate soup dumpling (xiaolongbao) and, in past years, the Din Tai Fung restaurants in Hong Kong were awarded a Michelin star. Though the Din Tai Fung restaurants in Seoul have mixed reviews (some love it, some hate it), I would recommend trying Din Tai Fung in Seoul as it only whetted my appetite to try the original Din Tai Fung in Taiwan. The soup dumplings and the fried pork were good (for Seoul; it is very difficult to find Chinese-style dumplings in Korea). But, the soup dumplings were not the best that I have tried as there was very little “soup” in the dumplings and the taste of the “soup” was savory but lacked depth.
